Wantable November 2013 Accessories Review

So I decided to try out Wantable Accessories. This is actually my third month, and I've had a mixed experience. In September, I loved most of my box, in October, I sent the entire box back, and this month well...

Avery Ring
Avery Ring... I feel like this was a filler item. It's okay, but definitely not worth the suggested retail price of $18.00. I may gift this ring, or I may keep it. We'll see!

Dottie Scarf
Dottie Scarf... you can't tell in this picture, but it has metallic threads woven all the way through it. I left mine in the plastic bag, so I apologize about the photo quality. This was a huge miss for me- I'm not a fan of animal print, or metallic, and the beige color washes me out completely. But my mother would LOVE this, and it has a retail value of $50, so it's into the Christmas stash. I do wonder how they got this from my quiz. Other than the fact that I like scarves, I can't think of a reason why this would have been selected for me.

Verity Necklace... LOVE THIS! Between this necklace, and the fact that my mom would like the Dottie scarf, it made me keep the box. The retail value of the necklace was $22.

Overall, I think the box was an okay value. To me, Wantable's retail values seem overblown, but I could see paying $36 for the necklace and scarf. I'm not including the ring, because I don't think I would buy it no matter the price. I think I'll try another month or two to see if they improve.

Little Bead Box

Last night I finished my blue and white bead box!
Forget that I made three of these for Christmas, it takes me almost five months to complete one for my own little collection. The pattern is from the book Little Bead Boxes by Julia Pretl, which I'm slowly working through. It doesn't help that she has more patterns for sale on her website too, so I could be doing these indefinitely.

I'm trying to wrap up projects in progress lately. I finally finished a quilt for one of the husband's cousins babies, finished my blue and white box, next I may tackle the Snap Happy project that needs re-finishing.

Needle Book for Mom

So I made a little needle book for my mom. Easter is her 50th birthday. I sewed the pages in upside- down, but I'm going to pretend it opens sideways. Hey, I'm not perfect!

I think it turned out okay. Not stellar by any means, but I'm going to go easy on myself... just this once. I used scraps of Good Fortune by Kate Spain. I'd won a bunch of scraps of Good Fortune, and two mini charm packs of Terrain from a give-away on her blog awhile back. Sometimes I'm a lucky girl!

Dino Hat!

So my dear little boy saw this hat as I was roaming blogs. He flipped over it. So I made him one, and it turned out fairly good.

It was a very easy pattern, and my new sewing machine made it super easy to finish. (Thank you my sweet Janome 2160, how I love you!) However it's a bit of a snug fit, so I may be making another soon.

Anyway, give credit where credit is due: Thank you to From an Igloo

Easter Egg Hunt...

Wow, what can be more crazy than a group of toddlers? Answer: a group of toddlers with buckets, over a 150 eggs, an Easter Bunny handing out treats, and finishing up with juice and cupcakes. We got home just in time for a nap, but someone was screaming that he needed his eggs. So he's happily napping right now with his arm around his bucket of eggs.
Never mind that that is technically his third bucket of eggs. He has a grocery bag full waiting in the living room, and I think I may weed them out a little before he wakes up. The perk of being the mom of a toddler- you can claim half the candy, because a two year old really shouldn't eat that much candy.
